What Is The Annapolis Sound?

The Annapolis Sound is future of local media now, integrating traditional newspaper, television and radio into one digital platform. Our commitment is to provide thoughtful news and information to the people of Annapolis and surrounding Anne Arundel County and to get Annapolitans from all walks of life talking to each other about life in our city.

Who We Are

The Annapolis Sound is a community within a community: a group of local journalists, writers, artists, scholars and business people who see the need to get our neighbors communicating intelligently about life in our city. Whether it’s celebrating the good, condemning the bad, investigating the unknown, or working through complex problems, we believe that the free exchange of knowledge and engaging in community-wide conversation are essential to realizing our ideal American, democratic way of life.

The Annapolis Sound was born as a great experiment, one that led us to step into the void left by traditional media organizations. We do this by not merely producing the media that people read, listen to, and watch – but further, by inviting our audience to become part of the conversation as we attempt to understand, record, connect, and engage our city and surrounding areas.

Each colleague at The Sound brings a different perspective on what we’re doing. To give our neighbors a better idea of where we are coming from, we’ve written a series of “Founder’s Articles” to provide a small window of insight into our vision:
